My name is Fusataro, swordsmith and representative of Asano Kajiya.
Passing down the craft of swordsmithing to the next generation—this is my life’s mission.
While respecting the traditional form of apprenticeship, I am exploring ways for the younger generation to learn the fundamentals of smithing while also becoming independent. With my own hands, I aim to shape a new model of what a swordsmith's workshop can be.
There is a beauty and spirituality in swordsmithing that transcends logic. To pass it on, it's not enough to provide time and environment—we must also share the true essence and appeal of swordsmithing, which is the very source of its value.
That is why I focus my efforts on sharing the joy of this craft and increasing the number of swordsmiths.
Since shortly after becoming independent, we have been hosting forging workshops overseas, and have now built friendly relationships with people from many countries.

Swordsmith’s Art of Entertainment—
As a passionate team of swordsmiths delivering inspiration, we are working to shape the future of this craft: freer, and more exciting than ever before.

刀匠 房太郎について

Representative of Asano Kajiya, swordsmith under the name Fusataro. Based in Hashima City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Born in 1976 in Gifu Prefecture, Fusataro began forging iron at the age of 13. At 20, he became an apprentice to Kanefusa Fujiwara (25th generation). After six years of rigorous training, he established his independent smithy in Seki City in 2004. In 2006, he relocated his forge to his hometown of Hashima City, and officially incorporated the business in 2024.
Believing that “a sword is a form of language,” Fusataro has been active internationally since 2012, conducting live demonstrations, lectures, and cultural exchange events in countries such as France, Canada, and the United States. His YouTube channel has over 21,000 subscribers, sharing the world of Japanese swordsmithing with a global audience.
His work spans a wide range of activities, including product development specializing in traditional Japanese forging techniques, research collaboration on steel, training of successors, promoting Japanese sword culture internationally, and contributing to his local community.
Through building an organization of swordsmiths, he strives to pass down both the tradition and creative evolution of swordsmithing to the next generation.
